In developed and developing countries, they cause more cases of diarrhea than foodborne Salmonella. Campylobacter are mainly spiral-shaped, S-shaped or curved, rod-shaped bacteria. Currently, there are 17 species and 6 subspecies assigned to the genus Campylobacter, of which the most frequently reported in human diseases are C. jejuni (subspecies jejuni) and C. coli.

  Clostridium difficile toxin’s A and B are encoded by the tcdA and tcdB genes, respectively. [PMID: 20664812] They share similar molecular characteristics with comparable sizes (308 kD for tcdA and 269 for tcdB) and 63% homology in their amino acid sequences. Environmental sources of the organism include water, soil, insects, factory surfaces, kitchen surfaces, animal feces, raw meats, raw poultry, and raw seafoods, to name only a few.
